About Lauren McCabe

Hi! I’m Lauren!

I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who specializes in women’s health and fertility. I work with all women, whether you are trying to get pregnant, are currently pregnant or postpartum, or are just struggling with the hormonal imbalances that can come along with being a woman.

I started Lauren McCabe RD to educate, support, and empower all women, because let’s face it, women’s health is complicated.

I have always been passionate about women’s health issues, but my passion for it has only intensified since struggling with my own hormonal imbalances and becoming a new mom myself, experiencing an anxiety-inducing pregnancy and difficult postpartum recovery.

In my experience with conventional medicine, I always left an OBGYN appointment feeling disappointed. I often felt pressured into taking hormonal birth control, and was never asked specifics about my menstrual cycle, which is so integral to a woman’s health. This trend unfortunately continued while I was pregnant, as I felt there was minimal focus on my well-being. I was never asked specific details about my diet, the supplements I was taking, or my lifestyle. At one point, my doctor was concerned that I wasn’t gaining enough weight and simply suggested that I drink a high sugar oral supplement. Thankfully, with my background in nutrition, and the extensive research I had done to get pregnant and maintain a healthy pregnancy, I knew better.

My personal journey has made me a better dietitian and has given me the confidence and tools to know that I can help you too.

Whether you are struggling with hormonal imbalances, trying to get pregnant, or are pregnant or postpartum, I can provide you with a roadmap to help you optimize your nutrition. In our sessions together, I will teach you how to make nutrition and lifestyle changes that are personalized, evidence-based and sustainable for the long-term. As a new mom, I understand firsthand the challenges of incorporating healthy habits into a busy lifestyle, which is why we will work together to create a customized plan that will work for you that won’t have you spending hours in the kitchen or hours in the gym to get the results you want.

When I am not helping women in my private practice, I am spending as much time as I can with my husband, my adorable daughter, and rescue pup in our house in New Jersey. My daughter is the inspiration behind everything that I do, and I am so lucky to have her <3.

My Philosophy

  • I believe the key to long-term health and success is making sustainable lifestyle changes; you DO NOT need to spend hours in the kitchen, hours in the gym, or give up the foods you love to achieve your goals
  • I believe that nutrition should be individualized and do not believe in cookie-cutter meal plans
  • I believe in a weight-neutral approach to nutrition which means that we will not be focusing on the scale but rather on building healthy behaviors and improving our relationship with food
  • I believe in creating a safe and inclusive space for women; I will always provide judgement-free and compassionate care
  • I believe that all women who want to get pregnant deserve to get pregnant and that optimal nutrition is essential in the pre-conception, pregnancy, and postpartum periods
  • I believe that nutrition should be accessible which is why I accept some major commercial insurances, HSA/FSA cards, provide payment plans and superbills, and offer virtual appointments so you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home
